The Current State of Life Insurance Premium Finance

This program has been sponsored by:

In this presentation you will learn...

  • Current State of Premium Financing – What works well and what doesn’t, and who are the right clients?
  • What makes Premium Financing attractive – leverage current client assets and future policy cash values to obtain significant coverage.
  • Retained Capital – a combination of illiquid (business, real estate, hedge/venture funds) client portfolios with large life insurance needs – a terrific market!
  • Gift & Estate tax savings: need a moderate (5-15 year) time window for leveraged gifting techniques to fully mature, thereby maximizing total asset transfers and minimizing premature use of lifetime gift exemptions, or have already used them with other highly appreciating assets.
  • Premium Finance adds costs to the transaction, and net returns must be calculated to determine if it makes sense short and long term.

This panel discussion will be moderated by Perry M. Smith, JD, LL.M., CLU, ChFC, CFP®

Mark Storms, CLU

Vice President                                         FIRST Insurance Funding Corp

Mark has developed a reputation for his ability to blend strategic thinking and straight out hard work. His unique experience in the financial industry, which ranges from mutual funds to life insurance premium financing to launching new businesses, is facilitated by an ability to quickly understand a business and develop a major market.

For the past eleven years, he has been instrumental in establishing the traditional life insurance premium finance marketplace. He walked into A.I. Credit Corp. with limited knowledge of this financial tool, and quickly developed the marketing department and branded the company as the Gold Standard of the industry. After 5 years in the industry, A.I. Credit Corp’s parent company, AIG, had a few financial issues but recognized the value of its subsidiary. During the following nine months, Mark was instrumental in selling the company to First Insurance Funding for over $800 million. Today, he is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for First Insurance Funding, which recently had their best year ever. Mark has personally financed over $514,351,000 of first year premium in the past six years.

Before the life insurance premium finance industry, Mark honed his corporate building skills as the National Account Executive for Advisor Central. This joint venture with Putnam Investments, Fidelity Investments, PFPC, and Mark’s original company, Franklin Templeton, was developed as a web portal that allowed financial advisors to consolidate their client’s holdings across multiple mutual fund companies. Mark was the obvious choice to develop the marketing plan due to his relationship management past with Franklin Templeton. While at these firms, Mark exceeded his goals and made a name for himself as a result oriented, tireless national traveler.
